Abstract
Easing Technology Adoption and Integration in Changing Times
Geospatial or location based technologies are becoming more and more commonplace in consumer services and in workflows across the private and public sectors. The authoritative geospatial information resources and sharing established through the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) advancements of the 1990’s and 2000’s has expanded to include a geocentric information environment data flows from sensors, UAVs, mobile devices, people and processes. Capability is advancing to address increasingly complex challenges such as advancing smart cities, supporting indoor navigation, achieving energy sustainability, and understanding urban and agricultural resilience in the face of climate change. Tapping and qualifying the fitness of this plethora of geospatial information, and integration of geo into workflows holds great promise for the next level of productivity and quality of life. Mr Reichardt speaks to a number of standards efforts underway to help technology developers and users leverage this rapidly changing environment.
