RS, GIS & GPS NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM (VINS) VIA SMART PHONES FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED
The paper presents a theoretical model to provide a smart phone navigation aid for visually challenged people. Everyone, now-a-days are fond of electronic gadgets by which they lead their lives effortlessly. Smartphone plays a vital role in this. This paper concentrates to make it accessible forvisually challenged to navigate. Preexisting models lagging somewhere in the aspect of cost, size, etc.., VINS model aimed at to reduce the cost utmost & to minimize the lagging to the best.Thisprototype inherits GIS (Geographic Information System), Ultrasonic sensors, GPS(Global Positioning System) module, GSM technology& modem (Global System for Mobile Communication) to the Smart phones. The aim of the overall system is to provide a low cost and efficient navigation aid for blind which gives a sense of artificial vision by providing information about the environmental scenario of static and dynamic objects around them. GSM technology & modem incorporates GPS & GIS, Sensor for short range obstacle detection, Tactile display for 3D visualization. Whole system is dynamic & automated. Objectiveof this system is to provide an inexpensive, efficient navigation support by guiding them even to the environment they never had been before.
