Crowed Sourced Web-enabled Public/Logistics Transportation System
Jeff Howe and Mark Robinson coined back a term in 2006, "crowdsourcing" that redirect inversion in traditional way of content generation and become a modern buzzword. With the advancement in the web, crowdsourcing technology opens up new world of opportunities, new applications and new ways of using geographic information in governance for providing a complete geospatial solution for the end users and facilitating study of public systems along with their integral components physical elements, people, connectivity and events. This paper provides an introduction to web based GIS and crowdsourcing technology and discuss a practical solution (framework) for Crowd Sourced Web-enabled public/logistics Transportation System. As per the name, framework has two integral component, public and logistics transportation. Public transportation component collects user location information with some specific attributes values (like Name, Sex, Age, Mobile Number, Waiting Time, preferred Type of Vehicle etc) that will be analysed by governing body to provide a quick, safe and easy public transportation. At Logistic Component, agencies or vehicle owner share their vehicle status with specific attribute values (like Type of Vehicle, Type of Logistics, max Capacity, current Capacity, preferred path etc) that can be used by intermediate customer to hire them for the same path. further in both the cases users can contribute for traffic, road/path condition, natural/manmade disaster on their way that will be again analysed and used to provide a better and safe journey.
