Abstract
New opportunities with Continuous Operating Reference Station Network
This presentation showcases how continuous operating reference station network with Trimble VRS technology offers a new opportunity. When used, the systematic errors in the reference station data are either reduced, or eliminated. This not only allows a user to increase the distance at which the rover receiver is located from the reference, it also increases the reliability of the system and reduces the RTK initialization time. The concept can be used not only to set-up new GNSS networks, but also to improve the performance of old, established GNSS networks.
The Virtual Reference Station concept, as implemented by Pivot-VRS App SOFTWARE, allows several applications to be performed more efficiently, at long ranges from a reference station, often eliminating the need to set up your “own” base station: land surveying, cadastral surveying, airborne photogrammetry, applications in the public supply services (power, gas, etc), machine control, deformation monitoring, fleet management, precision farming, environmental applications, atmospheric applications, such as IPWV, tectonic plate study, earthquake monitoring.
