Building National Geospatial Information Repository
Data of all kinds is one strong pillar in the entire process of economic development and all the National Mapping Agencies play a crucial role in the building up of the nation’s economy and the business power houses. With the percolation of geospatial applications in decision making at all levels, it is equally vital to have good access to good quality data. The geospatial Data Repository is a centralized store of data that can be accessed throughout at all the levels. The purpose of the repository is to ensure that the best and most up-to-date data is available to all users. The symposium “Building National Geospatial Information Repository” is an effort to put forward some initiatives towards building strong geospatial repository by quoting examples of successful projects, case studies pertaining to the same.
The symposium will be focus on:
- Presentation of successful and ongoing government projects like National Land Records Modernization Program (NLRMP), National Urban Information System (NUIS), 1: 10,000 Scale Mapping, Integrated Coastal Zone Mapping (ICZM) etc.
- Presentation from private and public sectors focusing on building geospatial data
- Highlighting their progress and challenges so far
