Theme:Geo-Budget-Enabling Sustainable Growth

The geospatial sector in the region has been growing with the entry of government, private and international bodies utilising data generated from different sources. There is often an expectation at the executive level to maintain Geospatial Systems in each and every department with their current and existing budgets and easily available data. At present, The Government of India (GOI) has budgeted wide range of initiatives that have a significant geospatial component. These initiatives, along with state and local level initiatives, have the potential to motivate a stronger internal capacity for Indian geospatial Industries. Therefore the conference being the national focal point for GI Technology Applications would aim at recognizing the need for a national platform for dissemination and exchange of knowledge and experience in the areas of Geographical Information systems, Remote Sensing and Global positioning Systems in innovatively addressing the socio-economic issues. Pertaining to the management of spatially distributed resources there is a need to recognize separate budget for Geoinformatics activities that translates to funding at budget time. Also there is a need to change the budget allocation system to support Geospatial Technology.
With the theme GeoBudget: Enabling Sustainable growth we will try to bring forward the crucial importance of Geospatial Budget and how it can be effectively used for a sustainable growth in the region. It will delve upon the appropriate methods and strategies in improving and enabling sustainable growth across all agencies. It will gather ideas, approaches and strategies from both the public and private sectors on improved and new ways to growing towards sustainable growth with the help of an appropriate budget allocation model.
